Bargaining: Offer about 1/3 of their original offer and see what happens. They will react with shock and outrage, but that's part of the fun. Don't bargain if you're not interested. Make friends with the shop keepers and bring them little gifts/treats as you get to know them. Don't go shopping (or anywhere) alone. Anyway, pay the extra fees on your way back, not on the way there! Take it from me: good shopping in the Middle East.
