On Monday, aka Jordan day 1, we woke up early and headed to the border. It was only about an hour from here. The border crossing went really smooth. We had some issues crossing into Egypt, but none on this trip. It was nice to have it go so well.
After the border crossing we headed to Mt. Nebo. We climbed up to the top of the Mt and looked over the Jordan Valley. We could see into Israel, the Dead Sea, the River Jordan, and lots of Jordan. It was a wonderful view.
There was a cute little church on Mount Nebo. There were also ruins from ancient churches on Mt. Nebo, so we had fun taking pictures on them.

After Mount Nebo, we headed to Madaba (spelled with any combination of a’s and e’s in the word, i.e. Medeba, Medaba, etc). The church at Madaba has a beautiful mosaic floor that is a map of the 6th Century Holy Land.

After Madaba, we took the long drive out to Southern Jordan. We stayed in a nice hotel just outside of Petra. That evening, a group of us went wandering through the city and bought ice cream at a 5-star hotel. It was a fun day!
