Today, we had a model Passover Seder led by our Jewish Modern Near Eastern teacher. Our teacher is a mix of the current denominations of Judaism. He teaches at a reform seminary, attends a conservative synagogue, but lives an orthodox life.

On Wednesday, we went on a field trip to the City of David. The City of David is directly south of currently Jerusalem. At the city we saw a 3D movie about what the city would have looked like in David’s time. We then went to Area G, an excavation site where the ancient city walls have been found. After Area G, we went into Hezekiah’s tunnel.

On Tuesday, we went to En Karem. En Karem is the traditional birthplace of John the Baptist. There were several churches and convents. We even got into a Russian Orthodox Convent because of the girls with us went to Russia on a mission. One of the churches was dedicated to the meeting between Mary and Elisabeth when they were both pregnant. The churches were very beautiful. It was a very delightful day.
