Tut’s Tomb

We arrived in Luxor on the train at 5:30 am. We got off the train, loaded into busses, and headed to the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings is where the New Kingdom Pharaohs were buried. This is where King Tutankumen (known as King Tut) was buried. The entrance to his tomb was covered by another tomb, thus saving it from grave robbers. That is why everyone has heard of King Tut. In reality he was a Pharaoh that no one would have cared about. He ruled from the age of 9 to 18 (it is believed that he was assassinated, cause people don’t usually die at age 18).

Sphinx and Pyramid

Day 3 was much more exciting than day 2. We saw so much on Day 2. First, we went to see the Great Pyramids. They are huge! We were able to go into the pyramid of Khafre, the 2nd pyramid. It was very hot and sticky inside the pyramid. Due to grave robbers, the pyramid chamber was found empty.

The second day we actually entered Egypt. We didn’t do much other than drive. We spent about 1 ½ hours crossing the border. Then we drove to Cairo. We were all so excited when as we were driving to our hotel the Pyramids came into view. It was amazing! We were all pretty tired when we got to the Hotel, so we just went to bed.
