Wedding Plans

I really should be better at blogging.  :)  So I’m going to attempt to write updates about wedding plans.  So much has been done!  It’s exciting.  But there is lots to go as well.

Bri proposed on April 22.  I was expecting a proposal, but not that soon.  So, he did well at the suprise factor.

So the story.  Bri was over at my apartment after we finished finals today.  He got a call from his roommate pretending to be someone setting up Bishopric interviews.  Bri told me that he had to go to an interview in half an hour.  He convinced me to come and wait outside the Bishop’s office during his interview.  When we got to the church, instead of taking me to the Bishop’s office, he took me to a room upstairs with a grand piano in the middle.

Flashback to when we first started dating.  After several dates, Brian had decided that he liked me and wanted to hold my hand.  I am generally slow at deciding to get into relationships, so I was still undecided.  After taking me on a date where I didn’t let him hold my hand, Bri was talking with his roommate.  His roommate wrote a song for the guitar called Define the Relationship.  After we started dating, his roommate added another verse.  Bri added a different verse to the song and arranged it for piano.

Now back to the proposal story.  Bri sat down at the piano and sang the song.  After singing, he reached into the piano and grabbed the ring.  He then pulled me to a standing position and got down on one knee.  I started crying. :) Can you tell I’m related to my Dad?  He started crying hearing the story. :)  It was very cute!  We then went back to his apartment and I called my parents and grandparents while Bri made dinner.  If you want to listen to the original version of the song written while Bri was still confused check out this link.  bwright4887.angelfire.com/DTR.mp3

We’re now officially getting married Friday, August 7, at 11 am at the Mount Timpanogos Temple.  We’ve also booked Sleepy Ridge Reception Center for the reception that night.  Sleepy Ridge is still under construction, but sounds like it will be gorgeous.  We went and walked through the building wearing hardhats on April 25th.  It was funny.  I’m planning on going back this weekend and taking pictures of us and our hardhats.  Sleepy Ridge’s website has some nice information and some totally phony pictures, as the center is still under construction. www.sleepyridgeweddings.com

We also booked Magelby’s catering for the food at the reception.  We had a tasting that was wonderful.  The food will include cream cheese red pepper dip, krab dip, cheese and crackers, chocolate covered strawberries (including some dipped ot look like tuxedos), breadstick sandwiches, and Magelby’s cake.  I hope I can manage to steal some food at the end of the reception.  I might have to pay on of Bri’s brothers to set some aside for me.  :)

We think we’ve found a photographer we like.  We are going to visit him on Saturday.   If you want to see his gallery, go to www.devinpeircephotography.com/gallery.html.

I’ve spent lots of time looking up cakes, flowers, colors, etc.  We’re thinking yellow, coral, and deep blue for the colors.  I want a cake with flowers in my colors on it.   I don’t think I want fondant.  I’d post pictures of what I’m thinking, but my picture upload tool isn’t working.  Sorry.

It’s way fun and really weird to be planning all this stuff.  Hopefully I’ll keep blogging as we do/find new things.  :D

I recently ran across this quote and thought it applied well to your situation: “We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” ~Author Unknown

    Happy planning!
