On Wednesday, we based our touring out of Amman. We first went to Jabbok River. The river has been a boundary line between peoples for many years. It is also the site where Jacob wrestled the angel to win his birthright. It was one of the better looking rivers we have visited.

After the river we went to Jerash. Jerash is an ancient Roman city. It is one of the best preserved Roman cities in the near east.
We spent a few hours wandering through the ruins and then a group of us went to a show in the ruins of the hippodrome. There was a narrator
who taught us about the shows that used to take place in Roman hippodromes. We learned about Roman legions and their ways of warfare. We learned about gladiators and chariot racers. It was all very enlightening. I really enjoyed it. We were even allowed down to the floor after to take pictures.

After our tour of Jerash, we went to a restaurant where we had the best meal we’ve had here. The appetizer was giant pita breads with any kind of topping you could want. My favorite was a fresh veggie salsa, that was probably a risk to eat, but it was way good. After eating more than our fill of bread, we were served lamb and beef. It was delicious. The desert was a small banana each, for which we were over joyed. The fruit in this area is delicious. None of it is imported. The mangos are my favorite. They are big and very juicy. They are delicious. There is a fruit stand just up the road from the JC that sells very good fruit. We enjoy going there a lot. Anyways.. back to Jordan.
After Jerash we went to the building where the Amman branch meets. The district president of the Amman Jordan district (which contains Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt) spoke to us. He told us a little about each of the branches in the district and some stories about some of the members in the branches. There are some amazing stories. It was fun to see a bunch of the church documents (like hymns) written in Arabic.
After the fireside, we went back to the hotel. Both Carlee and I weren’t feeling well, so I grabbed some bread at dinner and brought it to our room to eat. We chilled in our room all evening. At 715, when we were about ready to go to bed cause we had nothing to do, Kerri came up and made us come down and eat Fanta floats with the soda and ice cream they bought at the grocery store near our hotel. They were good, but we both started feeling more sick after eating them and so we went to bed. It was wonderful.
